The monastery's Metropolitan Museum will host the talk beginning at 7pm on Friday, November 21.

Archimandrite Justin Sinaites, Librarian of the Monastery of Saint Catherine at Mount Sinai , is coming to America to present three lectures.  The second will be at the monastery and will deal with the subject of  “The Tabernacle in the Wilderness: Sinai as Past and Future Hope" (info on the other two lectures may be found here).

Fr. Justin is actually an American convert (he was a Southern Baptist in Texas in his youth) who discovered the Orthodox Church in college initially  through his research about the early church. After spending 20 years in monasticism in America he joined Saint Catherine's in 1996 and became the librarian responsible for the 3,300 manuscripts, 8,000 early printed books which he is working to digitally convert for preservation as well as ease of access.  Fr. Justin has travelled extensively and has visited America several times including shepherding an icon and manuscript exhibit at the J. Paul Getty Museum.

Knowledgeable in modern technology and the internet and fluent in English as well as the Greek used at St. Catherine's, Fr. Justin is a 'bridge' between two very different worlds.
